Editorial Policy

Last updated: June 2026

FinBedrock.ai exists to help readers stop leaving credit card rewards on the table. This page explains how we research, evaluate, rate, and correct everything we publish, and how we keep our editorial decisions independent from how we make money.

About FinBedrock.ai: Meet the team and learn about our mission .

Editorial Independence

Our editorial team decides what to recommend. Our affiliate partners do not. A card does not rank higher because it pays a higher commission, and no advertiser can pay to change a rating, a verdict, or where a card appears in a comparison.

We keep the two sides separate on purpose: the money side is explained in full on our Advertiser Disclosure page, and the editorial side is governed by the standards below. When the two ever point in different directions, the reader’s interest wins.

How We Evaluate a Card

Every card we cover is judged on what it actually does for a real person’s spending, not on its marketing. For each card we look at:

  • Rewards value — what you earn on realistic monthly spending, run as actual math for a specific profile (for example, $500/month on groceries), not a headline rate
  • Sign-up bonus — the offer, the spend requirement, and whether it is reachable for a normal budget
  • Annual fee — and the break-even point where the card starts paying for itself
  • APR and fine print — the rate range, intro terms, and foreign transaction fees
  • Who it is for — and, just as important, who it is not for

If a card is not worth it for most people, we say so directly and show the math behind that conclusion. Honest negative reviews are part of the standard, not an exception to it.

First-Hand vs Research-Based Reviews

Nick Buinenko, the founder of FinBedrock.ai, personally holds 11 credit cards and has earned thousands of dollars in sign-up bonuses. Reviews of cards he actually carries are written in the first person and include real usage: a specific transaction, a moment the card paid off, or a mistake worth warning you about.

For cards Nick does not personally hold, we publish a research-based review, clearly labeled as such at the top of the article. These reviews rely on verified issuer data, published rewards valuations, and research into real cardholder experiences. We never write in the first person as if personal experience exists when it does not.

How We Verify Card Data

Bonuses, APRs, annual fees, and reward rates are verified directly on the issuer’s official website before we publish. We do not source numbers from aggregators, screenshots, or other comparison sites.

Card terms change often, so two things follow from that:

  • Every card carries a reminder to confirm current terms with the issuer before you apply, because an offer can change after our last check
  • We re-verify card data on a regular cadence and update the article when an issuer changes an offer, so the figures you read reflect the current terms as closely as we can keep them

Our Rating System

The FinBedrock rating is an editorial judgment of how good a card is for the reader it is meant for. It weighs rewards value against fees, flexibility, and fit for a specific situation. A premium travel card and a starter secured card are rated against what each is supposed to do, not against each other.

Ratings reflect value to you. They are never adjusted for commission rates or partner relationships.

Who Writes FinBedrock

FinBedrock.ai is written by Nick Buinenko, who holds a degree in Finance and Credit and built a US credit history from zero after arriving in the country at the end of 2022. He treats credit card rewards as an optimization problem and shows readers the math behind every recommendation.

We are enthusiasts and researchers, not licensed financial advisors. Our goal is to give you the clearest possible picture so you can make your own decision.

Corrections and Updates

We work hard to get the numbers right, and when we get one wrong we want to fix it fast. If you spot an error in any card’s terms, math, or facts, email us at [email protected] with the page and the detail in question. We review every report, correct confirmed errors promptly, and update the article’s “last updated” date when we do.

How We Make Money

FinBedrock.ai is reader-supported. When you apply for a card through a link on this site, we may earn a commission from our affiliate partners, at no extra cost to you, and with no effect on the offer you receive. A full breakdown is on our Advertiser Disclosure page.

Not Financial Advice

Everything on FinBedrock.ai is for informational purposes only and does not constitute financial or investment advice. Always do your own research and confirm current terms before applying for any financial product.
