Both pay 5% at the entry level; pick the store you shop, with more tier upside at Lane Bryant.

Research-based comparison: I haven’t personally held either card. This comparison is based on verified issuer data and research into real cardholder experiences. Verify all figures at the official issuer websites before applying.
The short answer is: at the entry level these two cards pay the same 5%, so the store you actually shop at decides it. The Torrid Credit Card wins for a Torrid shopper, the Lane Bryant Credit Card wins for a Lane Bryant or Cacique shopper, and Lane Bryant has more room to grow if your spending moves you up its tiers. Here’s why.
Both are closed-loop store cards with a $0 annual fee and a 35.99% APR. Torrid gives a flat 5% off at checkout. Lane Bryant’s starting Silver tier earns 15 points per $1, and at a $5 Reward per 1,500 points that is also 5% back, paid later as a reward. Lane Bryant’s Gold and Platinum tiers lift that to about 6.7% and 8.3%, and through December 31, 2026 bras bought with the card earn double points.
I’ve run the numbers across three shopping profiles below, including one where the two cards tie on ongoing rewards.
At a Glance
| Feature | Torrid Credit Card | Lane Bryant Credit Card |
|---|---|---|
| Annual fee | $0 | $0 |
| Base rate | 5% off Torrid purchases made with the card | 15 points per $1 at Silver tier (5% effective) |
| Best bonus category | 5% off at Torrid (its only rate) | 25 points per $1 at Platinum tier (about 8.3% effective); double points on bras with the card through Dec 31, 2026 |
| Sign-up bonus | Extra 25% off your first purchase | $20 off your first purchase (minimum $20.01, used the same day) |
| Intro APR | None | None |
| Purchase APR | 35.99% | 35.99% variable (penalty up to 39.99%) |
| Foreign transaction fee | n/a (closed-loop) | n/a (closed-loop) |
| Min credit score | ~640, Fair (editorial estimate) | ~670, Good (editorial estimate) |
On paper these two look nearly identical: same fee, same APR, same issuer family, both usable only in their own stores, and the same 5% at the entry level. What separates them is how the 5% arrives, Lane Bryant’s tier ladder, the sign-up offer and the approval bar, which looks higher on the Lane Bryant side. Both come from Comenity; for what changed there on October 1, 2026, see the Comenity merger guide.
How the Rewards Work
Torrid Credit Card
Torrid’s card is a flat 5% off Torrid purchases made with the card, applied at the register in stores and on torrid.com. There are no points, no tiers and nothing to redeem. The card earns no points of its own: cardholders earn Torrid Rewards at the same rate as non-cardholders, so the 5% is the whole card benefit. Outside Torrid it earns $0.
There are two catches. Torrid’s promo text says the 5% cannot be combined with other credit offers, and the extra 25% off your first purchase does not stack with the 5% on that same purchase. There’s also a $2.99 paper statement fee in months you have a balance above $3.50 and a paper statement is mailed, which paperless billing avoids.
Here’s the math: 5% on $100 of Torrid shopping is $5 off, immediately. Full details are in the Torrid Credit Card review.
Lane Bryant Credit Card
Lane Bryant pays in Lane Rewards points at 15, 20 or 25 per $1 depending on your tier: Silver, Gold or Platinum. Points redeem as a $5 Reward for every 1,500 points. Lane Bryant says members who meet the spend threshold for Gold or Platinum move up right away, but its pages don’t print the thresholds. Card-review sites such as NerdWallet put Gold at $350 and Platinum at $800 of annual spend, so treat Silver as the guaranteed rate and the higher tiers as likely upside for a regular shopper.
Here’s the math: 15 points per $1 is $0.05 back per $1, a 5% effective rate at Silver. Gold works out to about 6.7% and Platinum to about 8.3%. Non-cardholder Lane Rewards members earn 10 points per $1 (about 3.3%), so the card adds about 1.7 percentage points at Silver.
One promotion matters if you buy bras there. Through December 31, 2026, bras bought with the card earn double points: 30, 40 or 50 per $1 by tier, which is 10% to about 16.7%. Those are the rates you may see quoted for the card, but they apply to bra purchases only, not to everything in the store.
The card earns $0 outside Lane Bryant, Cacique and affiliated outlet locations. The sign-up offer is $20 off a purchase of at least $20.01, used the same day the account opens, and limited-time offers may be higher, so check the current offer before applying. Late or missed payments can trigger a penalty APR of up to 39.99%. More in the Lane Bryant Credit Card review.
One timing difference matters for convenience: Torrid’s savings arrive instantly at checkout, while Lane Bryant’s arrive later, when you redeem points.
The Math: 3 Spending Profiles
I’m using Lane Bryant’s Silver tier (5%) everywhere, since it’s the only rate you can count on from day one, and I’m leaving the bra promotion out. The “everything else” row earns $0 on both cards because neither works outside its store.
Profile 1: Torrid regular, Lane Bryant never
| Category | Monthly | Torrid rate | Torrid earn | Lane Bryant rate | Lane Bryant earn |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Torrid | $80 | 5% | $4.00/mo | 0% (can’t be used at Torrid) | $0 |
| Lane Bryant (incl. Cacique) | $0 | 0% (can’t be used there) | $0 | 5% (Silver) | $0 |
| Everything else | $900 | 0% | $0 | 0% | $0 |
| Total | $980 | $4.00/mo | $0/mo |
Annual earnings:
- Torrid Credit Card: $48.00/year
- Lane Bryant Credit Card: $0/year
Year 1 (with sign-up bonus): Torrid’s extra 25% applies to one first purchase and replaces the 5% on it. Using one month of Torrid spend ($80) as the first purchase: $48 − $4 (the 5% you give up on that purchase) + $20 (25% of $80) = $64.00. Lane Bryant has no spend in this profile, so no bonus: $0.
Year 2+ (ongoing):
- Torrid Credit Card: $48.00/year
- Lane Bryant Credit Card: $0/year
Break-even: N/A. Neither card has an annual fee, so whichever card leads in Year 1 for a profile also leads every year after.
Takeaway: Torrid wins, because Lane Bryant earns nothing on spending that never happens there.
Profile 2: Lane Bryant loyalist, Torrid on the side
| Category | Monthly | Torrid rate | Torrid earn | Lane Bryant rate | Lane Bryant earn |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Torrid | $10 | 5% | $0.50/mo | 0% (can’t be used at Torrid) | $0 |
| Lane Bryant (incl. Cacique) | $100 | 0% (can’t be used there) | $0 | 5% (Silver) | $5.00/mo |
| Everything else | $900 | 0% | $0 | 0% | $0 |
| Total | $1,010 | $0.50/mo | $5.00/mo |
Annual earnings:
- Torrid Credit Card: $6.00/year
- Lane Bryant Credit Card: $60.00/year
Year 1 (with sign-up bonus): Torrid: $6 − $0.50 + $2.50 (25% of $10) = $8.00. Lane Bryant: $60 + $20 (the profile spends well over $20.01 a month there) = $80.00.
Year 2+ (ongoing):
- Torrid Credit Card: $6.00/year
- Lane Bryant Credit Card: $60.00/year
Takeaway: Lane Bryant wins by a wide margin, because this shopper’s money goes there. At $1,200 a year this profile would also clear the secondary-sourced Gold and Platinum thresholds, so the same spend could earn closer to $80 (Gold) or $100 (Platinum) a year once the higher rate applies.
Profile 3: Shops both stores about equally
| Category | Monthly | Torrid rate | Torrid earn | Lane Bryant rate | Lane Bryant earn |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Torrid | $60 | 5% | $3.00/mo | 0% (can’t be used at Torrid) | $0 |
| Lane Bryant (incl. Cacique) | $60 | 0% (can’t be used there) | $0 | 5% (Silver) | $3.00/mo |
| Everything else | $1,500 | 0% | $0 | 0% | $0 |
| Total | $1,620 | $3.00/mo | $3.00/mo |
Annual earnings:
- Torrid Credit Card: $36.00/year
- Lane Bryant Credit Card: $36.00/year
Year 1 (with sign-up bonus): Torrid: $36 − $3 + $15 (25% of $60) = $48.00. Lane Bryant: $36 + $20 = $56.00.
Year 2+ (ongoing):
- Torrid Credit Card: $36.00/year
- Lane Bryant Credit Card: $36.00/year
Takeaway: a tie on ongoing rewards at Silver, with Lane Bryant $8 ahead in Year 1 thanks to its flat $20 offer. Upside: at Gold (about 6.7%) the same $60 a month would earn about $4.00/mo ($48/year), and at Platinum (about 8.3%) about $5.00/mo ($60/year). At $720 a year this profile would pass the secondary-sourced $350 Gold threshold but not the $800 Platinum one. Since you’d likely hold both cards in this profile, the real answer is to use each in its own store.
Where Each Card Wins
| Scenario | Winner | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Spending mostly at Torrid | Torrid | A flat 5% beats $0; Lane Bryant earns nothing at Torrid |
| Spending mostly at Lane Bryant / Cacique | Lane Bryant | 5% at Silver, more at higher tiers, vs nothing from Torrid there |
| Splitting spend evenly between both stores | Tie at Silver | Both pay 5%; Lane Bryant pulls ahead only if your spend reaches Gold or Platinum |
| Buying bras | Lane Bryant (through Dec 31, 2026) | Double points on bras with the card: 10% at Silver, up to about 16.7% at Platinum |
| Everyday non-apparel spending | Neither | Both are closed-loop and earn $0 outside their own stores |
| First year (sign-up offer) | Depends on what you buy | Torrid’s 25% nets +20% over the 5% on that purchase, which equals Lane Bryant’s flat $20 at a $100 first order; bigger first order favors Torrid, smaller favors Lane Bryant |
| Instant savings, nothing to redeem | Torrid | The 5% comes off at the register; Lane Bryant pays later in $5 Rewards |
| Approval odds | Torrid | The estimate is about 640 vs about 670 (both editorial, no issuer minimum), so Torrid’s bar looks lower |
| Spending abroad | Neither | Both are closed-loop; foreign transaction fee n/a |
| Balance transfer | Neither | Neither offers balance transfers |
| Carrying a balance | Neither | Both charge 35.99%, and it outruns either discount quickly |
The pattern is simple. The APR, annual fee, closed-loop limits and entry-level 5% are a wash, so the store you shop at decides it. Lane Bryant’s edge is its tier ladder and the bra promotion; Torrid’s edge is that the 5% is instant, with nothing to track or let lapse. Who Should Choose Torrid Credit Card
✅ A Torrid regular who spends most of their apparel budget there and doesn’t shop Lane Bryant
✅ Someone who wants an instant discount at checkout with no points to track or redeem
✅ Someone whose credit is in the fair range and wants a card with a lower estimated approval bar (an editorial estimate, not an issuer minimum; see the store card approval odds guide)
✅ Someone about to make a large first purchase, where an extra 25% off scales with the order
If this sounds like you, the Torrid Credit Card is the right call.
Who Should Choose Lane Bryant Credit Card
✅ A Lane Bryant / Cacique shopper who spends there regularly, where 5% at Silver can rise to about 6.7% to 8.3% at higher tiers
✅ Someone who buys bras at Lane Bryant, where the card earns double points through December 31, 2026
✅ Someone comfortable redeeming points later (as $5 Rewards per 1,500 points) rather than taking an instant discount
✅ Someone with good credit (editorial estimate about 670) who can use the same-day $20 offer; see what credit score a store card needs
If this sounds like you, the Lane Bryant Credit Card is the right call.
The Bottom Line
Here’s what I’d actually tell a friend who asked me this: get the card for the store you actually shop at. At the entry level both pay 5%, so neither one is a better deal in the abstract. If you split your spending between the two, the cards tie on ongoing rewards, and holding both, each used in its own store, is the honest answer.
Lane Bryant has the higher ceiling: its Gold and Platinum tiers pay about 6.7% and 8.3%, and bras earn double points through the end of 2026. Torrid is simpler, with the 5% taken off at the register, and it has the lower estimated approval bar.
Both cards charge 35.99%, and on a carried balance the interest outruns either reward fast. Treat them as pay-in-full cards, and see whether store cards are worth it for you before applying. When you’re ready, read the full Lane Bryant Credit Card review and the Torrid Credit Card review.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I have both the Torrid Credit Card and the Lane Bryant Credit Card?
Yes. Nothing stops you from holding both, and since each works only in its own stores, they don’t overlap. Each application is evaluated separately based on your own credit profile. Whether it’s worth it depends on your shopping mix: if you spend at both stores, using each card in its own store captures both rewards.
Which card is better: the Torrid Credit Card or the Lane Bryant Credit Card?
Neither wins outright. At the entry level both pay 5%: the Torrid Credit Card as an instant discount, the Lane Bryant Credit Card as points worth 5% at Silver. Pick the card for the store you shop at. Lane Bryant has more upside, about 6.7% at Gold and 8.3% at Platinum, plus double points on bras through December 31, 2026.
What credit score do I need for the Torrid or Lane Bryant card?
The editorial estimates are about 640 (Fair) for the Torrid Credit Card and about 670 (Good) for the Lane Bryant Credit Card. Neither is an issuer-published minimum, and neither is an approval guarantee either way. See our guide on what credit score you need for a store credit card.
Do the Torrid and Lane Bryant cards work anywhere else besides their own stores?
No. Both are closed-loop store cards and earn $0 outside their own stores. The Torrid Credit Card works at Torrid. The Lane Bryant Credit Card works at Lane Bryant, Cacique and affiliated outlet locations. Foreign transaction fees don’t apply to either.
Are the Torrid and Lane Bryant cards issued by the same bank?
Both belong to the Comenity family. For how the October 1, 2026 merger affects the issuing bank, see our Comenity merger guide.
Can I use the Torrid 5% discount together with other offers?
Not with other credit offers. Torrid’s promo text says the 5% cannot be combined with other credit offers. The extra 25% off your first purchase also does not stack with the 5% on that purchase.
